Researched a number of turntables before deciding on this one. Really quick and easy to set up. Connected straight to my Sonos Play 5. Sound quality is excellent. Style is very simple and looks great. After years of playing digital music, the sound difference is remarkable. I haven't played any vinyl for 25 years and this has now got me falling in love with music again.
It's great to be able to hold an album sleeve, look at the artwork and follow the lyrics whilst listening. I hadn't realised how much I'd missed that. The only negative is that you have to remove the turntable to change the speed from 33 to 45 rpm. Other than that, a great purchase. So pleased I didn't go for a cheaper entry level model. This is actually a Rega RP1 with an added phono preamp.
A very basic turntable that sounds good, but that extra detail in the sound that a high end preamp can deliver is not possible - the built in preamp cannot be bypassed. If you can live with that this is a very good buy. Easy to set up with sonos and sound quality is excellent. Had researched Turntables for quite sometime before pulling the plug on this and it has been a delight listening to records that have been stored in the loft for 25 years.

Using a Turntable with Sonos
If you have a small space, connecting your turntable to a Sonos speaker system is a great idea. You might be wondering why I would want to take a nice, warm analog turntable and connect it a digital speaker system. Well, for starters, it saves a lot of space by getting rid of a large amp and extra speakers. The first thing you need to figure out is if your turntable has a built-in preamp. Most newer models with USB outputs and some higher end models have built-in preamps. Older turntables, like my Yamaha P, do not. Alternatively, you can connect to an amplifier with a phono input and an analog output but that defeats the purpose of trying to save space by removing the amp from the equation. The Pyle-Pro PP is a low cost, decent preamp with a small footprint. The Sonos system you have depends on what you will need to connect your turntable to it. If you have a PLAY:
In the last 10 years, many audio systems have become extremely clever devices, indeed. Where once we were perfectly content to have music in one room that largely came from physical media, we now have the choice of equipment that can effortlessly support multiple rooms of audio and draw from any kind of source.
Vinyl is here to stay. Even as streaming music flourishes and dominates our listening, our appetite for vinyl keeps growing: Over the last 12 years, U. In addition to working with over 80 digital music services, our home sound system can plug right into your turntable setup and let you fill your home with the warm sound of your favorite albums on vinyl.
How to add a turntable to a Sonos system
Setting up your turntable is simple, but there are many ways to do it. Before diving in, you should make sure you are familiar with some basic terminology and setup types. A phono preamp is a crucial component in any turntable setup. If you have an amp or receiver with a clearly labeled phono input, then you are all set — this means that your amp already has a phono preamp in it. If not, you will need a phono preamp — available either as a standalone component or built-in to the turntable itself this option is available on all Orbit models. The name says it all - this first setup is as simple as it gets. What are powered speakers? In addition to bookshelf powered speakers, there are a number of common speakers that will work well for this:. An oldie but goodie. First, you connect your Orbit to a stereo receiver with a dedicated phono input using the included RCA cables. Next, you connect your stereo receiver to bookshelf or floorstanding passive speakers using speaker wire. This setup is a good bet if you have a number of sources you want to connect to your speakers.
How to smarten up your record player with Sonos
However, it's not always simple to make this most analogue of devices fit into the digital smart home. The allure of buying, owning and enjoying vinyl has sent sales soaring. Pretty much every member of The Ambient team has one. But while record players are great in terms of sound quality, and offering us the chance to slow down and consume music more thoughtfully, the tech realities can be a problem. First is that a vinyl set up has a lot of different elements — which causes clutter. So many wires. Read on for the various options open to you for making your record player set-up a little bit smarter.
Flexson's VinylPlay turntable lets you can stream LPs' sound to your Sonos speakers, so you can listen to your records in any room of the house. But does that miss the point? I thought it was some kind of joke, but it's for real: The unit -- which appears to be based on the UK-made Rega RP1 audiophile turntable -- can be paired with a Sonos Connect or Sonos Connect Amp "base station," which can then wirelessly stream your records to other Sonos speakers or devices throughout your house. Now, let's be clear: In fact, Sonos has always supported this ability -- you could connect a CD player, your cable box, an old iPod, or anything else. Regardless of which turntable you connected, though, streaming an analog LP over a digital audio system seems like an odd pairing to me.
