As the weather gets nicer, it's easy to get nostalgic for the years where your summer plans consisted of bonfires, awkward dances, trunks full of cotton shorts and late-night truth or dare. Yes, we're talking about summer camp. And beyond the obvious pluses of getting to spend two months outdoors without your parents doing tons of fun and creative activities, camp romances will always hold a special place in our hearts. No makeup or new clothing necessary. And guess what? Your crush will like you just as much as if you dolled yourself up.

If you've ever found yourself dating someone who's spent many summers as a camp counselor, then boy you're in for a treat. Camp counselors are basically the bomb, and they make pretty great dates too. In case you needed to know why here are some reasons for you. If you've ever been to a summer camp before you know there's no time for minute showers and a full face of makeup. Counselors especially may enjoy the luxury when they can but they know how to live without. If you actually have access to your phone or service for that matter it's not like you have time for it anyway when you're busy with campers.

We can easily go a while without our phones and it won't be the end of the world. Campers are only half of the battle, you have to win the parents over to earn their trust enough to look after their babies. I promise your whole family is going to love us. You have to play both roles as a counselor.

You have to be able to be a listening ear if campers approach you with red flag topics and you have to be able to make them laugh when they're done. That's a pretty cool talent if I do say so myself. We have to learn to be calm, cool and collected even if things go wrong. I was told to be ducks on water; calm on the surface but paddling like crazy below. It's raining outside but campfire is tonight? Someone get a fan, streamers, and flashlights, we're moving it inside. Tye dye is cool, tye dye is fun, tye dye will never ever go out of fashion, you can never have too much tye dye anything.

Lol, there's no such thing as sleep as a camp counselor. Yet we still do it all over again the next day. But that doesn't mean we can't appreciate a solid nap and we'll totally understand when you need one. CPR and basic first aid are just two of the skills I've learned over the years. I also know how to start a fire without a lighter, cook just about anything over that fire, make a killer friendship bracelet and fit two weeks worth of gear in one suitcase.

That's the whole reason we do what we do. No one signs up to be a camp counselor, a shoulder to cry on, a mentor, a leader and a friend if they didn't care. I mean, come one now, why wouldn't you wanna date a camp counselor? Like I said, we're actually the bomb, awkward camp pictures, Dad jokes, little sleep, tye dye and all. You'll never understand! You are the most loving and kind soul that I have ever known, and the only person I would ever want to call my mom.

You went through it all with your kids, all of the phases of teenage, my-life-is-ending, drama. One thing I do have to get off my chest however, is an apology. An apology for all of years I put you through of making you even have to feel like you have failed in the first place. I was confused, and nothing anybody said was the right thing. But I promise, you helped me so much. I wish I could go back and tell myself all of the things that I know now, that you were always trying to tell me from the start.

You have a bigger heart than I even knew there was enough room for in a single human body cavity, and to think that I could ever hurt you shatters mine entirely. So I hope you forgive me for the times that I am not loving and kind and caring, like the person I strive everyday to be. Spoiler alert: You are the most sensational and completely remarkable woman I have ever seen, and I thank God every single day that I have you to thank for raising me into the person I am.

You have never, and I mean never , failed as a mother. Everything you have done for me throughout all of the years of my life is more than I even knew anyone was capable of. You have given me everything and more, and you have never for a single second let me down. I am forever grateful to you and all that you are. I hope you take a second each day to reflect on the effortlessly wonderful person that you are.

I was genuinely happy for that moment we shared. Since that day our love has grown to what it is today. What we have may not work for everyone, but it works for us. I love how open we are when talking about anything. I love that you listen to me ramble on and on about a simple thing. I love that we can be ourselves around each other. No matter the time, place, or day we both know the other is always willing to listen and understand. Thank you for always being patient with me, especially when I get into one of those moods.

Thank you for being so good to me, especially when it gets hard. I know I am not the easiest to deal with, but I appreciate you. Sometimes I feel like I do not deserve someone like you, Out of nowhere, you appeared with arms open, ready to love me. I appreciate you more than I may lead on. I care about you and I thank you for being a part of my life. I am working hard on myself and I love that you support me in all I want to do.

Thank you for holding me when I cry, even when it is over something completely stupid. I wanted you to know that I would do all that I can to be there for you, when you may not be doing well yourself. Thank you for never giving up on me no matter how hard our lives get. Thank you for never going to sleep mad or upset and always saying "I love you" before we head out on our day.

Thank you for the countless hours at attempting to teach me how to play video games, even though I will never fully grasp how to use the controller. I just know I am pretty good at Madden, just saying. Thank you for letting me call you when I cannot sleep or when I just needed to hear your voice. Thank you for loving me no matter what, no matter when.

I hope you know that you have my heart, no matter what life may throw at us. I hope you know that I think you are one of the best people that I have had the chance to know. You are so much greater than you think you are, my love.
